We are the worldwide leader in this segment: present in more than 50 countries, with more than 100 operators in the five continents.
Throughout the years, we have listened carefully to our customers, leading to improved versions of the existing aircraft and the development of new ones.
We offer a complete family of tactical airlifters, covering from 3 to 9 tonnes of payload,
to meet all the needs of any tactical or logistic transport mission, or humanitarian and peacekeeping operations.
Tactical airlifters are vital for Air Forces: they transport not only palletised and non-palletised
loads but also troops, enable paratroop operations, provide Medevac capability, and aerial delivery operations.
Our light and medium tactical aircraft play a key role in support missions in hostile areas: they move
cargo and troops in the theatre of operations, to remote bases with no infrastructure, flying at low level, taking-off and landing
from short and unpaved terrains – and at a fraction of the cost of larger aircraft.
The Airbus Military aircraft family also performs humanitarian and peacekeeping missions, operating to places
that other assets cannot reach, delivering goods by air, transporting aid and personnel for assistance, moving the injured, and evacuating
those in peril. And all these missions are performed in the most adverse environment: in extreme climates, in remote and unprepared airfields, as well as at night.
Key parameters of the aircraft design are:
- Rear ramp that allows easy load and unload procedures
- Cargo compartment completely unobstructed to be adapted to operators’ needs
- Hardened cabin floors to with stand concentrated loads
- Robust landing gear to operate on soft and unpaved terrain
Our aircraft have low operating costs, making them affordable for Armed Forces with limited budgets: the
aircraft have been designed with simple and proven systems which require minimal maintenance while providing maximum
availability, and the fuel consumption, inherent to turboprop aircraft, is very low.
They routinely operate worldwide in both civil and military airspace, and they are equipped with
avionics compliant with civil ATC rules but also ensuring the expanded tactical capabilities required in today’s defense environment.
